Angie Boehmer selected as MS Coach of the Year

Angie Boehmer, Lake Mills Middle School volleyball coach, has been selected as the Iowa assistant/middle school volleyball Coach of the Year by the Iowa Girls Coaches Association.
Angie has coached for over 20 years as an assistant and as a middle school coach, and some years doing both. She has roughly 25 (plus) seasons of volleyball coaching from middle school to high school. Angie and Jim Boehmer began coaching together in 1992.
“Our program and it’s success can be traced to the work that Angie has put into the program as a middle school and assistant high school coach. She has helped take our program to the state tournament, including a trip to the state finals. I can promise you that her efforts have been critical to the success of our program” Jim Boehmer
“I have been in a unique situation to coach with her and serve as her athletic director and her efforts with our kids are appreciated. As her husband, I understand that it was truly a sacrifice for her to do these jobs with three boys at home and a husband that wasn’t around as much as he should have been. Our family has been committed to our program for nearly three decades and I am extremely proud that she has been selected for this honor” Jim Boehmer
She will be recognized at the Iowa Girls Coaches Association Volleyball Banquet and All-Star matches this Saturday, Nov. 23, in Carroll.
Angie joins Donna Ellingson as Lake Mills Coaches who have received this statewide honor. Angie will be retiring from coaching volleyball at the end of this school year. She has coached volleyball and track since joining the coaching staff at Lake Mills in 1992.
