Johnson Heritage Farm– Five generations strong

The Johnson family farm is located in rural Lake Mills, Winnebago County. The original 160 acres of land was purchased in 1870 for $7.50 an acre, by John B. Johnson, who immigrated from Norway. He lived in a sod house, until he built a log cabin. The farm was passed from John and his wife, Synneva, to their son, George and Irene Johnson, who passed the farm on to their son, Mylan (deceased), and Lois Johnson, current owner (pictured above). The farm is now rented by Mylan and Lois’ daughter, son-in-law, and grandson—Gorden Jr., Denise, and Alec Anderson. Over the years, corn, beans, alfalfa, hogs, and Holstein dairy cows were raised on the farm. Five generations have farmed the land.
