LM Ambulance to mark 50 years of service

This October marks 50 years since the Lake Mills Ambulance was established. It was born of necessity, because the local funeral home was no longer going to provide ambulance service.
In August 1967, 26 interested citizens signed on to take the necessary first aid training. In three years, there were between 40 and 50 active members. The ambulance service was the pride and joy of this community.
There were articles in local newspapers singing its praises. Harris Honsey was quoted, “It’s successful, because of the high quality of men and women willing to take part and because of the excellent support of the community; financially and morally.”
It seems quite sad that currently, less than 15 people of this community are willing to volunteer their time to this vital service. If everyone thinks, “someone else can/will do it,” there will be nobody doing it.
“Being a volunteer on the Lake Mills Ambulance Service is the most rewarding thing I have ever done,” remarked Jill Halvorson.
Please consider joining and helping continue to provide this critical service to Lake Mills and the surrounding community.
“I think you’ll be glad you did,” commented Halvorson.
