Sesquicentennial Slogan Contest awarded

The July Jubilee Planning Committee named Gary Thompson the winner of the Lake Mills Sesquicentennial Celebration Slogan Contest. Thompson submitted the slogan “Generations Strong,” which was well liked by the committee.
“I think it is a great slogan that we can use in a lot of different aspects regarding this event,” said Lake Mills Chamber Development Executive and July Jubilee coordinator Cassie Johnson. “The wheels are spinning in my mind and I am imagining family activities that focus on ancestry or sharing history.”
The announcement, posted to the July Jubilee Facebook page, featured a video naming Thompson as the winner and calling locals to now help come up with a logo concept to match the event slogan.
“We want to get the community involved and see what creative ideas our ‘Lake Millians’ can come up with,” said Johnson. “Two heads are better than one, or in this case: 2,000 heads are better than one committee.”
The logo contest is open until Monday, Oct. 1, at which time designs will be reviewed by the planning committee and favorites will be picked. It is undecided whether the committee will pick a winner or open up voting to the public; regardless, a winner will be selected in the beginning weeks of October.
“Our goal is to have a logo developed and promotional items ready for purchase before Christmas,” said Johnson.
Entrants can submit designs in the form of hand drawings or digital images, and can submit up to three entries.
