Alan Ross Honsey
Alan Ross Honsey, 62, passed away at the Lake Mills Care Center, Wednesday, April 2, 2025, where he had resided since April of 2023. Per his wishes a private family service will be held at Schott Funeral Homes-Mittelstadt Chapel with inurnment in the family plot at Salem Memorial Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund, St. Croix Hospice, or to the family c/o Schott Funeral Home-Mittelstadt Chapel, Lake Mills. Alan was born June 7, 1962 to Harris D. and Thea LeAnn (Larson) Honsey at Naeve Hospital, Albert Lea, Minn. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanual Lutheran Church, Scarville. He attended Lake Mills Community School and graduated with the class of 1980.
Al owned and operated Al’s Body Shop in Lake Mills for a number of years. In July 1992, Alan suffered severe injuries in a motorcycle collision. After months of hospitalization and rehabilitation he was able to go back to work. He joined the staff at Mobility RV, Hanlontown, and worked for Bruce and Evelyn Holtan in that business until April of 2019, when reoccurrence of the accident injuries forced him to retire. While working at Mobility RV he met a fellow employee, Brenda Rambo, and they were partners until her death in 2023.
Alan is survived by his parents, Harris and LeAnn Honsey, Lake Mills; a brother, Mark (Patti) Honsey, Lake Mills; two sisters: Amy (Kolin) Hogue, Coralville; and Kari Honsey (Joe Allen), Wellman; six nieces and nephews: Ashley Hoffman, Beau (Cameo) Honsey, Kylie (Michael) Bieber, Brynn Hogue (Matthew Little), Spencer Shalla (Hunter Berry) and Connor Shalla (Gracie Baestle); three great-nieces and one great-nephew: Emma and Thea Hoffman, Kimber and Easton Honsey; two uncles; and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Selmer and Ingeborg Honsey; and John and Thea Larson; and a nephew, Travis Hoffman.
