Chad Paul Humphrey

March 2, 1973 – February 9, 2022

Chad Humphrey, 48, Houston, Texas, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2022 at Kingwood Medical Center, Houston, Texas, from cardiac arrest. As he passed and per his wishes as a donor, his organs were gifted to others so that they could have a second chance at life. A celebration of his life will be held Friday, May 6, from 4-8 p.m., at Lakeview Community Center, North Lakeview Drive, Clear Lake.
Chad Paul Humphrey was born in Albert Lea, Minn., March 2, 1973, to Stephen and Suzanne (Troe) Humphrey. He literally started running and getting into things from the time he left his mother’s womb. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Chad grew up in Thompson, and it was a wonderful place to be raised. He rode his bike without training wheels at age three and was diving off the high board by the time he was four. Everyone in town knew Chad as he left a mark on everyone he met.
Chad went to school in Thompson, and when they consolidated with Buffalo Center, he was in the first graduation class from North Iowa High School in 1991. Chad was involved in all sports and especially loved football. While in high school, he made All-District and All-State in football. This was quite an honor for a small town kid. His high school coach, Mr. Don Anderson, and his uncle, Mike Troe, were great role models for Chad. After graduation, Chad attended Iowa Central, Fort Dodge,  and NIACC, Mason City.
He was married to Jennifer Petersen, and to this union, three children were born: Spencer, Macie and Jordyn. The couple later divorced, after which Chad moved to Dallas, Texas, where he married Monica Heredia, adding Jace, Maxx and Bristol to the family.
Chad was a hard worker. While still in Iowa, he worked for 15 years at Winnebago Industries, Forest City and Charles City, prior to moving to Texas. For the past 13 years, while residing in Houston, he was employed by Nailor Industries as a production manager. While managing over 500 employees, Chad brought his unique sense of supervising to grow into a work family that respected and loved him as their own. Co-workers describe him as a people magnet and a prankster. The outpouring of love and support from his Nailor family has been nothing but amazing. He absolutely loved his job.
Chad also managed to find time for a round of golf, and he was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan.
The greatest joys to Chad were his family. Even though miles separated them, he still loved his children and family more than anything.
Life is short, so hug your family and friends. Tell them you love them. Sing the song and dance the dance.
He is survived by his five children: Macie, Jordyn, Jace, Maxx and Bristol Humphrey; wife, Monica; his mother, Suzanne Humphrey, Mason City; grandmother, Gladys Humphrey, Lake Mills; a sister, Michelle (Chris) Thompson, Albert Lea, Minn.; half-brother, Derek Rhatigan, St. Charles, Ill.; along with several extended relatives including aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Chad is also survived by his childhood friend, Matt Sunde, and lastly, his work family.
Chad was preceded in death by his father, Stephen Humphrey; son, Spencer Michael Stephen Humphrey; brother, Mike Humphrey; maternal grandparents, Marilyn VanDenBosch and Dale Troe; and paternal grandfather, Leighton Humphrey.
