Darlene Mae Hanna was born Jan. 5, 1929 in Grant Township to parents Edwin and Lois (Wescott) Hanna. She attended country school and graduated from Buffalo Center High School.
On Dec. 31, 1948, Darlene was united in marriage with Arlo LuVerne Trytten in Albert Lea, Minn. They made their home near Woden, and were blessed with two sons: Larry and Greg. While in Woden, Darlene worked at the locker, inspecting eggs and doing various other duties. In the early 1960’s, the family moved to Lake Mills, and they have lived here ever since.
Darlene worked for many years at Fleetguard in Lake Mills, and later at Winnebago in Forest City. Darlene was a dependable worker who took pride in what she accomplished. Her work ethic and determination spilled over into her daily life at home as well. She was a very good gardener and canned produce to enjoy year round, she found joy in many outdoor activities, and loved playing card games-especially Cribbage—which kept her mind sharp for all these years. In earlier years, Darlene and Arlo liked to spend time following the boys around the country, from California to the Carolinas, and as they aged, they went on many casino bus trips together.
Darlene was a wonderful mom, loving grandma, and precious wife. She was there for her family whenever they needed her.
She will be missed by her two sons: Larry Trytten, Lake Mills; and Greg (Sally) Trytten, Albert Lea, Minn.; a grandson, Shane Trytten, Albert Lea, Minn.; great-grandson, Brandon Trytten, Albert Lea, Minn.; two brothers: Eugene (Carolyn) Hanna and Jimmy Hanna; a sister, Donna Loge; and a sister-in-law, Betty Hanna; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arlo, in 2009; two brothers: Raymond Hanna and Robert Hanna; and a sister, Anelda Stecker.
