Dennis Ray Hanson

Dennis Ray Hanson,  72. rural Lake Mills, passed away Monday, June 27, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family. A memorial service for Dennis will be held  Thursday, June 30,  at 5 p.m. at Salem Lutheran Church, Lake Mills, with Pastor Joel Guttormson and Kermit Singelstad officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday afternoon.  Burial of his cremains will be held in Salem Memorial Cemetery, Lake Mills. Military Honors will be performed by Otto Chose V.F.W. Post #253.A reception and celebration of his life will be held at 5 Alarm Brewing Co,  Lake Mills, following services.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society. Dennis Ray Hanson, along with his twin brother, David was born Dec. 5, 1949, to Alpha (Teigen) and Kenneth Hanson in Albert Lea, Minn.

He graduated from Lake Mills Community High School in 1968 and joined the Army in 1969. He was a member of the 101st Airborne Division and fought in the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged from the Army in July 1974.

He married Kathleen Groe on June 3, 1972, at Sion Church, rural Lake Mills. They are the parents of Amber and Kevin, and the grandparents of Gavin Tubre.

Dennis farmed for over 50 years with his brother, Dave, in the Lake Mills area.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy; children: Amber (Travis) Tubre, River Falls, Wis.; Kevin (Kendra) Hanson, Lake Mills; grandchild, Gavin Tubre; brothers: David (Annie) Hanson, Lake Mills; and Larry Hanson,Minneapolis, Minn.; and many nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Wayne Hanson; and his sister, Carolyn Rawlings.
