Eileen Mestnik September 9, 1947 – May 9, 2024

Eileen Mestnik, 74, Henderson, Nevada, passed away May 9, 2024.
Eileen was born to James and Orva Gustafson, Sept. 9, 1947. She was baptized in Winnbago Lutheran Church and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church. She graduated from Lake Mills High School and Waldorf College, Forest City.
Eileen married Robert Swanson, who had a daugher named Kelly. They later added Brad and Amy. Bob and Eileen eventually divorced.
Eileen worked for the V.A. and eventually met Jerry (aka, Romo) Mestnik, who also worked for the V.A. The two married April 14, 1984. Romo acquired an instant family with Brad and Amy.
After they retired from the V.A., they moved to Lake Mills, where they cared for their aging mothers.
Eileen and Jerry moved to Henderson, Nev., where Jerry would enjoy playing golf, while Eileen sang. Her vocal range was from first soprano to second tenor, and she could harmonize. Singing was Eileen’s passion.
Eileen was strong in her faith and preached, “Love, love, love, forgive, forgive. No fighting and no animosity.”
Jerry Mestnik, 74, Henderson, Nevada, passed away peacefully Nov. 10, 2021.
Jerry loved his family, sports, and met life’s challenges with unflappable calm and humor. Jerome was also called Romo.
He was born to Joseph and Amelia Mestnik, Dec. 3, 1946. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.
Romo was drafted into the U.S. Army. He served 360 days in Northern Vietnam.
Romo returned to Minnesota and graduated from St. Cloud State University with a degree in business and accounting.
Romo met the love of his life, Eileen, while working for the Veteran’s Administration. He was also an underwriter for the V.A. he was an avid reader and cruciverbalist.
Jerry and Eileen were married April 14, 1984. They were married for 37 years.
A Celebration of Life service for Eileen and Jerome Mestnik was held June 2, 2024.
