Janice Eileen Anderson
Janice Eileen Anderson, 66, Albert Lea, Minn., passed away Sunday, July 13, 2025, in New Hope, Minn. A Celebration of Life will be held in September. In Memory donations can be made to the Gift of Life Transplant House, Rochester, Minn., at https://gift-of-life.org.
Born Sept. 17, 1958, in Albert Lea, Minn., to Arden and Marcelle (Midlang) Anderson, Janice grew up in Lake Mills. She was baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church and graduated from Lake Mills Community School in 1977.
She was united in marriage to Gene Tue in 1982, and through this union, her daughters, Rachel and Kristen, were born. They later divorced, and Janice met her life partner of 30 years, Chris Borland.
Janice worked for many years at St. John’s Lutheran Home as a dietary aide, and then attended Riverland, where she graduated in 1997 with a degree in Physical Therapy.
Janice loved to create, whether it was crafts, quilting, sewing, cooking, or baking. She sewed many dresses for her daughters when they were young and made quilts for her grandchildren. She liked to garden, loving flowers and the beauty they brought. Janice enjoyed traveling with Chris to the North Shore to attend blues festivals and the U.P. to visit family. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren, making precious memories and sharing lots of laughs.
Janice never wanted to dwell on her illnesses, but it is a part of her story. She received a pancreas transplant in 2002, and then needed a kidney transplant, which was donated by her brother, Darrel Anderson, selflessly helping his sister have many more years with her family. A beautiful quilt Janice made as a “Thank You” hangs in the Gift of Life Transplant House in Rochester, Minn.
Janice is survived by her life partner, Chris Borland, Albert Lea, Minn.; children: Rachel (Chris) Lawson, Northwood; and Kristen (Fred) Allen, Albert Lea, Minn.; grandchildren: Gavin, Ethan, Garrett, and Evan Lawson, and Sebastian and Caspian Allen; siblings: Larry (Michelle) Anderson, Lexington, Ky.; Sharon Johnson, Lake Mills; Duane (Joyce) Anderson, Lake Mills; Bruce (Patti) Anderson, Lake Mills; Marlin (Bonnie) Anderson, Lake Havasu City, Ariz; and Darrel (Andrea) Anderson, Lake Mills; numerous nieces, nephews, and their families; and her aunts: Doris Tweed, Lake Mills; and Bev Anderson of Iowa. She is also survived by the Borland family: Rebecca, Timothy, Elizabeth, Matthew, Theresa, and their families.
She is preceded in death by her ex-husband, Gene Tue and their infant son, John Tue; her parents, Arden and Marcelle Anderson; brother-in-law, Roger Johnson; and many aunts and uncles. From the Borland family: Richard, Dwight, Dan, and Nancy.
