Kirk Wilson Burgett
Kirk Burgett, 64, passed away Saturday, Jan. 7, 2023. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 12, at Emmons Lutheran Church, Emmons, Minn. Pastor Ryan Henkel will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 11, at Bayview Freeborn Funeral Home, Albert Lea, Minn., and for one hour prior to service at church on Thursday. Kirk was most comfortable in his camouflage or casual clothing. Please honor him by wearing yours, if you choose.
Kirk Wilson Burgett was born Feb. 27, 1958, in Des Moines, to Curtis R. and Marian V. (Cornwell) Burgett. He grew up in Hubbard and Northwood, and received his schooling in Northwood.
After school, he began working at Larson Manufacturing, where he worked for 44 years until his retirement.
Kirk was united in marriage to Judy Hovland at the Emmons Lutheran Church and the couple made their home in Emmons, where they lived until the time of his death.
Kirk was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting with his family. He also enjoyed golfing every Thursday night with his friends, and watching WWE and Ghost Adventures. Kirk found greatest joy spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He was a member of the Emmons Volunteer Fire Department for 32 years, a member of the Emmons American Legion Post 317 and the Rice Lake Country Club.
Kirk is survived by his wife of 45 years, Judy Burgett; sons: Jarvis (Dawn) Burgett, Emmons, Minn.; Jacob (Alissa) Burgett, Elmore, Minn.; grandchildren: Ethan, Isaac, Avaya, Noah, Austin, Adrianna, Lilianna, Emanuel, Eliseanna; sister, Signe Burns, Sanford, Fla.; mother-in- law Dorothy Towne, Emmons, Minn.; sisters-in-law: Jackie (Rick) Waite and Joanne (Todd) Brackey; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Marian (Cornwell) and Curtis Burgett; sister, Felecia;.brothers: Rex, Karl, Wayne and Donald; and fathers-in-law: Ervin Hovland and Earl Towne.
