Mable Rose Shropshire

Mable Rose Shropshire, 92, of Thompson, IA, died Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, IA.
 
Funeral service will be 1:30 PM, Saturday, February 6, 2016, at Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street, Lake Mills, IA 50450, with Pastor Wayne Halvorson officiating.
 
Visitation will be 5-7 PM Friday evening at Mittelstadt Funeral Home and again one hour prior to the service.
 
Burial will take place at Rose Hill Cemetery, Thompson, IA.
 
Mable Rose (Olson) Shropshire was born in Thompson, IA, on April 19, 1923, the daughter of Andrew and Hannah (Christopherson) Olson. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Thompson, IA.
 
She attended school and graduated from Thompson Community School in Thompson, IA.
 
On December 28, 1942, Mable was united in marriage to Verne Shropshire at Zion Lutheran Church in Thompson, IA. This union was blessed with five sons. Lewis Charles, Dennis Laverne, Wayne Alan, Gary Lee, and Terry Eugene. They made their home on the family farm northwest of Thompson. Recently, Mable had been a resident of Good Samaritan Society in Forest City, IA.
 
After the sons were raised and gone from the home, Mable worked as Office Manager for North Iowa Community Action Org. for 18 years. Mable truly enjoyed the five years of wintering in Arizona with Verne in their motorhome. Mable truly loved the Lord, visiting with friends, and outings with her sister Alice.
 
She is survived by children, Chuck (Joyce) Shropshire of Crystal Lake, IA; Dennis (Fiancé Sara) Shropshire of Thompson, IA; Wayne Shropshire of Thompson, IA; Gary Shropshire of Thompson, IA; and Terry Shropshire of Forest City, IA; seven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; one sister Alice (Hestness) Gould of Osage, IA; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
 
Mable was preceded in death by her husband Verne, parents Andrew and Hannah, in-laws Lewis C. and Berta Shropshire, granddaughter Lucy, grandson Cory, great-granddaughter Ashley, all siblings save one, and a number of friends.
