Marie Anne Nielsen was born Oct. 8, 1991 in Sioux Falls, S.D. to parents John and Anne (Masters) Nielsen.  She was baptized at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, and was confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church, Lake Mills.  Marie attended and graduated from Lake Mills High School in 2010.  During high school, Marie was active in chorus, and was able to take college level classes through both NIACC and Waldorf.  Following graduation, she went on to attend the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls, where she double majored in social work and psychology.
Marie had been employed as a social worker at Covenant Hospital (now MercyOne) in Waterloo.  Marie found purpose in helping others through crises, and she had a huge, loving heart.  She could find the good in everyone, she did not judge or criticize, and was the first person to lend a hand to those in need.  She adored her cats, Belle and Luna, and she was musically talented singing and playing guitar.  After her gastric bypass surgery, Marie found that working out was a great stress reliever and it quickly became a hobby.
She was a wonderful, loving daughter and granddaughter.  She was the annoying sister that her brothers loved to pick on.  She was perfect, and will be sorely missed.
Survivors include her parents, John and Rhonda Nielsen, Lake Mills; two brothers: James Nielsen, Lake Mills; and Raymond Nielsen, Hibbing, Minn.; her Gram, Rosanne Klemm, Lake Mills; Grandma Della Marie Miller, Ankeny; Grandpa Ronald Nielsen, Crystal Lake; special uncles and aunts, David & Marie Nielsen, Anita Stevensen, and Mark Sr. & Laura Miller; and her faithful cats, Belle and Luna.  She is also survived by many cousins and friends.
Marie was preceded in death by an uncle George Nielsen; step-grandpa, Paul Klemm; and grandpa, Kenneth Wayne Miller.
