Sharon Kay Geddes was born March 7, 1936 in Hayfield, Iowa, to Harold and Rose (Malek) Geddes. She attended elementary school in Hayfield, then transferred and graduated from Forest City High School in 1953.
Sharon was united in marriage to Gorden Andrew Anderson at Center Evangelical Lutheran Church, May 31, 1953. To this union they had five children. While her family had special nicknames for Sharon, everyone knew her as Kay.
Kay stayed busy with farm life and raising children while she worked outside of their home at the roller rink and canning factory. She continued to work for Deluxe and later worked for Larson Manufacturing for 28 years, where she “retired.”
Kay led her life with a servant heart. Her family was the love of her life and with that love she shared many cherished memories. She was a very active and involved member of her church, AAL and Thrivent. Always stepping in to organize, work and support countless fundraisers, benefits and community events. She continued to build her life with faith, family and friends as a 4-H leader, Sunday School teacher, and Ladies Aid officer. Kay could be found working her Sudoku puzzles, reading, baking and mowing her lawn. Many people enjoyed her love of baking, but her greatest joy was watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren in all their activities and sporting events. She was their proudest fan.
Kay is survived by her children: Julie (Kent) Swenson; Gorden, Jr. (Denise) Anderson; Geoffrey (Jodie) Anderson; and Annette (Brian) Larson; grandchildren: Shanna (Darin) Eastvold; Garrett (Sara) Anderson; Jennifer Anderson; Alec (Kaitlyn) Anderson; Rosemarie, Brooklyn and Andrew Larson; great-grandchildren Derek, Avery and Regan Eastvold; Jakobe Anderson; Gavin, Sydney and Gemma Anderson; special nephews: Mark (Sandy) Haugen and Todd (Helen) Hanson; sister, Sally Boomgarden; sisters-in-law, Arlene Flugum and Dorothy Hill; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
